The Need for Self Storage

storage.jpgMore and more people today are finding it hard to manage the space they rent, own or lease and are turning to A1 Safe Storage as a solution to cluttered personal and business lives. Whether you're looking to store just a few items, archive your business paperwork or put most of your possessions in a safe place for a few weeks, months or years, this could be a cost-effective & flexible solution for you.

So, what is self-storage? Self storage offers both personal and business users a storage solution that they can control themselves. As with more traditional storage methods, self-storage allows you to rent storage space where you can keep goods and belongings. In the past, we have had to rely upon moving companies and large storage organizations to store on our behalf and have had to play by their rules with limited access, no flexibility, long-term contracts and high charges. With the advent of self-storage, we've been given a lot more choice. It's 'Do It Yourself' storage.

Recognizing that many consumers and businesses need more control over what, where, when & how they store, our facility has evolved into a cost-effective, flexible and secure storage alternative. The self-storage space you rent will be self-contained and fully enclosed and can vary in size according to your specific needs - you could be looking at as small a space as a closet through to a unit big enough to store your boat, the entire contents of your house or extensive business archives.

This is an incredibly flexible storage alternative. You can choose to store more or less in the space size that you choose for as long or as short a time as necessary. Unlike traditional storage methods, self-storage allows you to access your storage space free of charge at any time which not only means that you can easily access what you have stored but that you can take parts of it out of storage and replace it with other items with no hassle, no waiting and no additional cost. Simply drive up to your self-storage unit and park outside. If your storage needs change and you need to store more or less, we can help you get a larger or smaller unit provided we have units available. And, unlike traditional storage methods, you'll know that your self-storage unit will stay where it is and your stuff won't be moved around by the storage provider without your permission.

If you're looking to use self-storage the first difference you'll notice is that it's your responsibility to get your stuff to the self-storage facility, pack your goods into the space provided and, ultimately, move it out. This allows you to pack your storage space in the way that best suits you so that you can easily access items without having to unload everything in the unit.

Self storage is also a secure solution to your storage needs. The storage unit you rent can only be accessed by yourself - you'll be the only authorized key holder, although you can generally nominate further key holders if you wish. You'll be expected to provide your own lock for your space - giving you an extra guarantee of security. In addition, A1 Safe Storage has a range of security measures in place – such as a pin operated front gate for customer access only.

24 Hour Access

Once you've rented a storage unit, you'll have an easy-to-remember pin number that will allow you to access your unit 24 hours a day, seven days a week. For your convenience and security, the premises are lit from dusk until dawn. Our customers have told us they feel much more comfortable at night with our lights!

Winter Ready

truck.jpg We all know how harsh a Maine winter can be. Meet "The General." He'll be here with us through the winter season to make sure no matter how much snow flies, you can get to your storage. The General is ready to stay one step ahead of the game.

Tricky ice patches and excess snow aren't issues either. Here at A-1 Safe Storage we lay quality melting products from Maine Salt Company.

Residential Considerations

residential.jpgSometimes we have more than we can safely, comfortably store at home. We may need things seasonally or infrequently. We may want to protect a possession from the elements or from the “light-fingered” among us. Storage units are a great way to do this.

Are you moving? Are you building a house? Are you down-sizing your life? Are your parents down-sizing their lives?

Realtors and real estate agents regularly advise homeowners interested in selling to “un-clutter” their homes because they’ll sell better. Put these items in storage until such time as you can thoughtfully decide what to do with Aunt Harriet’s favorite hat and Uncle Ed’s rocking chair.

You might think that having a big metal box delivered to you for storage will meet your needs – and it might. But – can you get at the contents any time you want? Where will it stay? Do you really want it on your front lawn?

Commercial Considerations

commercial.jpgBeing in business for yourself is a challenge: you need all the help and support you can get!

Our self-storage can help you bring your business to the next level of success!

Retail: What is your cost per square foot of the space you now rent? Are you spending more to hold your goods on premises than you should? You could expand your selling area by moving stored items to a storage unit that costs less per square foot than your retail space. By increasing your selling space, you increase your ability to sell.

Building/Construction/Service: Are you taking a lot of heat about all those business-related items stored in the garage or basement? Restore peace at home and organize your equipment and supplies in a storage unit! You’ll find what you need more quickly, allowing you to get to your job and start earning more money. You may also benefit from fewer interruptions and be able to focus on what you need to do.

Professionals/Office: Your office space costs you money. If your cost per square foot for filing space in your office is higher than a storage unit’s (and it probably is), you can expand your office space by moving your archived material out to a storage unit. You then have more space for workers and working, allowing greater return from your current office space.

Why store it?

Sometimes you just never know what you’ll need or when you’ll need it. Remember that wonderful coffeemaker your folks had? They gave it away because you didn’t drink coffee. Now you do and you’d love to have it.

Sometimes the old things work better (or are just more elegant) than anything new. That beautiful crystal vase that your grandmother had is no longer in the family. But it had style and grace that was unmatched. And it also was your grandmother’s trademark, sitting on her dining room table for as long as you can remember.

Sometimes it’s far more practical to save something good and take care of it than to buy new every few years. Weather takes its toll on lots of things. Protect the hard-earned money you’ve invested by storing that kayak, motorcycle, bicycle, ’57 Chevy, or any number of things.
